Revit 2011 on Windows Phone 7 Series

by Guy Robinson 1. April 2010 15:05

For those who thought the ribbon and Revit were a joke. Well I’ve got news for you. Thanks to the power of the Visual Studio 2010 Phone 7 series development tools and the Revit Ribbon, I’ve been able to get Revit 2011 running on the emulator with the minimum of effort. Although it is a little slow in the emulator.

Here’s a screenshot of the port of Revit 2011 Architecture running on the Phone 7 emulator. Fantastic stuff. Looking forward to a decent iPad sized device from Windows in the coming months.

@Robin,
Don't have one. I didn't want a device I had to own a mac to program for Wink

Assuming devices are good, Enterprise are going to love Windows Series 7 phones. 90% common code between PC,XBox and Series 7 phones using existing tools and dev teams will be a hit. Especially as multi-touch moves onto the desktop.

The dev tools for winmo7 are great, but the worry for enteprise will be that you have to deploy your apps in the app store which is subject to approval(apple style)

I think they are considering enterprise people eventually, but in the presentations I've been to its all about consumers first up. There were some very angry WinMobile6.5 developers at the Queensland MSDN group presentation on this! Hopefully they sort it out eventually.

@Rod,

Yeah, It's pretty clear they're concentrating on the consumer experience at release but from what I've heard internal applications won't be far behind. It's too big of a market to ignore for long. And the sandboxed nature of silverlight apps should help from a security perspective.
